Amateur Outdoor Motocross Updated information on the 2008 Canadian Vet Motocross Nationals Sponsored by Riverside Yamaha-Suzuki-KTM
PRESS RELEASE #3
Friday, April 25, 2008
Canadian Vet Motocross Nationals
Sponsored by Riverside Yamaha-Suzuki-KTM

Mr Gord Koll, President of the organizing group, stated today that he was pleased to announce that Doug Dubach, World Vet Champion has committed to racing in the
2008 Canadian Vet Motocross Nationals to be held in Alberta in August 2008.

The Vet Nationals recognize older [“Vet”] motorcycle racers who continue to participate and enjoy the sport of motocross after their 30th birthday. Modelled after the White Brothers World Vet Championships held in California for the past 20 years, the series will comprise a 10 moto [race] format spread over two weekends in August. Dubach is undoubtedly the star entrant in what will be a talent laden group of Vet racers from many countries.

Mr Danny Yaggey, Race Team Manager for Riverside Yamaha-Suzuki-KTM , the Title Sponsor, advised that “Doug Dubach is the World’s best Vet racer, having won over 15 World Championships, as well as the Open Canadian Motocross Championship in 2000, against riders less than half his age. We are very pleased to have Doug Dubach riding a Team Riverside prepared YZ450F for the Canadian National Vet Motocross Nationals”.

Doug Dubach’s career spans well over twenty years at the top levels of the sport. His very first race was as a 15 year old in California. He then went on to secure a Yamaha factory contract to race at the highest levels of the sport for many years, always on Yamaha motorcycles. As well, Dubach has been a factory test rider, confirming his skill and talents as a rider capable of understanding the many differences between various motorcycles and ensuring that the final product released to the public is correctly developed.

Six years ago Doug Dubach decided to use some of his product development and managerial skills and started Dubach Racing Developments [DRD], which initially focused on the design and construction of performance exhaust systems for motorcycles, then later expanding into other racing related accessories for which he felt there was a specific need. A good example of this was his DRD hour meter, which records the time that a racing engine has been running, allowing more accurate management of servicing and maintenance points.

Dubach was also heavily involved in the development of the Yamaha YZ400, the very first commercially successful four stroke racing motorcycle. This machine was developed over a period of some years, all with great secrecy and considerable effort to ensure that the finished product released to the public at a dealer convention in Las Vegas in 1997, was to the usual high standards of the manufacturer.

In 2000 Dubach raced the Canadian CMRC Pro Nationals upon one of those very same Yamaha four stroke racers, and won the 2000 Canadian Pro Championship, sweeping all before him in masterful style. He then returned to his regular testing responsibilities at Yamaha, while continuing to amass further Vet Championships, and expand his DRD product line.

Dubach is married and enjoys life in Southern California with his wife Gina and three children, Ryley, Avaree and Carter.

PRESS RELEASE #4
Wednesday, June 18, 2008 Canadian Vet Motocross Nationals
Sponsored by Riverside Yamaha-Suzuki-KTM

Mr Gord Koll, President of the organizing group, stated today that he was pleased to announce that the Pro Purse for the upcoming 2008 Canadian Vet Motocross Nationals to be held in Alberta in August 2008 has been set at $15,000.00.

Mr Koll added “We expect competition to be extremely fierce in all classes for National Championships, driven not only by the will to win and to be able to claim a National Championship, but also for the significant amount of cold hard cash on offer for the Pro classes”. Many Alberta based Vet racers are already training hard for the events, and competing in Vet races regionally, such as the Spring Classic held at Antler Lake near Edmonton this past weekend.

Mr Danny Yaggey, Race Team Manager for Riverside Yamaha-Suzuki-KTM , the Title Sponsor, is confident that the attraction of the significant purse money will draw even more top class racers to the two Alberta events which comprise the national Championship.

“In addition to Doug Dubach, the World #1 Vet racer, I have had expressions of interest from many former Canadian Champions who want to try themselves against Dubach, and many of their former competitors from across Canada who they raced against as far back as the 60’s and 70’s.”

The prize purse will be split among the 2 premier age classes, specifically the +30 and +40 Pro classes, with the +30 class taking the lions share of the funds to the tune of $10,000, and the +40 pro class taking up the remaining $5000. Other classes will share in the significant quantity of contingency awards, trophies and giveaway prizes being offered by many of the event sponsors and supporters.
