National: On the road again with Dylan LAnglois
Posted by: Chris on Aug 04, 2008 - 02:07 PM

Riders & Teams I'm going to make this quick as I'm just using a computer at the information centre for P.E.I. - I'm out East with my parents now and we decided to come see the island for a couple days before heading back to Ottawa for next weekend. I guess there's an awesome track over hear which I'm going to ride tomorrow too.

We really lucked out with the weather this weekend in Moncton. With all the rain all the way up and the overcast skies all weekend I thought for sure we were in for a mud rae on Sunday. Amazingly, it held off and made for perfect track conditions all weekend. The track was a lot of fun, very tacky red clay, lots of ruts and a couple big jumps.

I signed up for both classes and decided I would race the first MX2 moto and both MX1 motos. I managed to score points every moto which I was happy about.

In MX2 I had about a 3/4 pack start and managed to make a nice block pass for 20th in the last corner on the last lap. I sat out the 2nd moto in order to save my energy for the last MX1 moto.

MX 2 Overall: 20-DNS, 25th overall

In MX1 I had a little worse than midpack start in moto 1 and found myself in 20th by the halfway point. I reeled in 19th and 18th before getting cross-rutted going down into a gully and going off the track. I lost a lot of ground when that happened and although I finished close to the 18th place rider, I finished 20th.
In moto 2 my start was about the same. However, on the first lap a big rock hit me in the goggles and knocked my lens out of place allowing all kinds of dirt to get in my eyes. I couldn't charge until the field spread out and slowly picked riders off right until the end of the race, where I ended up 19th.

MX1 Overall: 20-19, 23rd Overall

All and all it was a good weekend, and I scored 4 points. I now sit 30th in MX1 points, 2 points away from 28th and am in position for National #60 for next year. Sand Del Lee next weekend is my favorite track on the circuit and I'm hoping to better my results. I practiced there last Thursday on the way to Moncton, with Tyler and Jeremy Medaglia, so I know all the hot lines ;)

Until next week,
